What does Creative Commons?

Creative Commons (CC) is a non-profit organization that provides guidance for authors to share of legally protected content in the form of ready-made royalty contracts. Concretely, CC offers six different standard license agreements, which can be used for the distribution of creative content, to determine the legal conditions.

You can already see from the name of the respective CC license type, what are the main conditions for the use of the content. The simplest CC license agreement requires only the attribution of the author by the users (licensees), in addition, further restrictions can be made, depending on whether the rights holders will allow commercial uses or not, whether changes should be allowed or not, and whether modifications must be distributed under the same conditions or not. The combination of these conditions results in the selection of six different CC licenses:

BY = Attribution 3.0 (Details)
BY-SA = Attribution - ShareAlike 3.0 (Details)
BY-ND = Attribution - NoDerivs 3.0 (Details)
BY-NC = Attribution - NonCommercial 3.0 (Details)
BY-NC-ND = Attribution - NonCommercial - ShareAlike 3.0 (Details)
BY-NC-SA = Attribution - NonCommercial - ShareAlike 3.0 (Details)
